Oh, what do we have here! Sweet Green pepper – Capsicum ‘Lipari’
Sweet peppers! Have you ever seen anything like this?
These peppers come from Italy, they are called “Peperoni Cornetto” here.
And they boast impressive health benefits.
They contain lutein – a plant compound with powerful anti-inflammatory properties that work especially well to improve heart health and blood pressure.
If this isn’t enough, sweet peppers are low in potassium, just 88 mg per half cup serving and pack a lot of vitamins and nutrients to improve the health of your kidneys.

Because while fermentation was initially used, more than 2000 years ago, to improve shelf life of foods, today we know that this process can deliver health benefits far beyond those of fresh cabbage.

And, if you have ever wondered whether goji berries actually live up to their superfood reputation, you will be impressed to find out that just 1 ounce of raw goji berries contains 250% of the daily requirement for vitamin C!
Now, vitamin C is an anti-inflammatory vitamin that can significantly treat and reduce the inflammation markers in hypertensive and/or diabetic patients.

  • Get your Omega-3s. omega-3 fatty acids are associated with lower levels of inflammation. Getting enough from the diet is not always possible, so consider supplementing them.
  • Eat less meat. Meat is unhealthy for people with kidney problems. Is a source of protein and it’s also inflammatory.
  • You can stop inflammation if you avoid foods that cause inflammation.
    They also include refined sugar, fried and high fat foods.

Turnips
These veggies are just wonderful.
First because they are full of plant compounds called glucosinates, which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
They break down into indoles and isothiocyanates, both of which are bioactive byproducts with anti-inflammatory properties.
Very interesting, these substances have been shown in tube studies to significantly reduce inflammation and injury done by inflammatory conditions.
They have also been associated with lower rate of cancer.
What’s more, these root vegetables are loaded with fiber and vitamin C. vitamin C is a powerful anti-inflammatory .
They are also a decent source of vitamin B6 and manganese.
Turnips are especially kidney-friendly because they make an excellent replacement for vegetables that are higher in potassium like potatoes and winter squash.
Actually, one medium sized turnip provides just a little bit more than 200mg of potassium, while a similarly sized potato has three times more potassium
Also, Turnips can be cooked almost any way you’d cook a potato. They can be roasted in the oven, boiled, steamed, cooked in the microwave, sauteed on the stove, or even grilled.
And, unlike potatoes, you can eat them raw!
Never discard the greens when you buy turnips. Turnip greens are healthy, like many greens, but are exceptionally low in potassium. Just half the potassium in kale, for example.

Cranberries contain more antioxidants than many other commonly eaten fruits and berries, but the best-known health benefit of cranberries is their ability to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
This is absolutely great for people with kidney problems because, you know, the kidneys are part of the urinary tract and UTIs are both common and dangerous.
And cranberries contain A-type proanthocyanidins, an active ingredient capable of cleansing your body from harmful bacteria and viruses that may be lingering in your urinary tract.
What not many people know, is that Cranberries may reduce the risk of other infections as well.
H. pylori is a type of bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers and cancer.
A number of studies have shown that cranberries can prevent H. pylori from attaching to the stomach wall and thus prevent infection.
Cranberries have also shown various benefits for heart health.
Many studies have found that eating cranberries can reduce cholesterol, blood pressure, oxidative stress, and “stiffness” of arteries
Cranberries can be eaten dried, cooked or fresh. They are very low in potassium, phosphorus, and sodium.
But if you find them dried, like these one I have here, double check for sugar content. Some brands add sugar to make cranberries taste sweet, but this will reduce the health benefits.

No, don’t worry, despite the name, golden milk is not dairy. It’s a healing beverage made from powerful spices!
And it’s the most anti-inflammatory drink in the world. Well, at least in my opinion, obviously, since it has won today’s top 7!
Now, the benefits of this drink are … powerful.
If you drink this milk regularly, you may benefit from its amazing antiseptic, anti-inflammatory properties, anti-microbial, anti-allergic properties, which may help in preventing as well as curing several diseases.
How is this possible? Well, golden milk is made from some of the most powerful anti-inflammatory spices in the word: curcumin, ginger and black pepper.
And many people don’t know this, but a study showed that consuming 500 milligrams (mg) of curcumin was as effective as taking 50 mg of a common arthritis medication at reducing inflammation.
Incredible!
There’s only one problem with golden milk. Almost all recipes you can find for it are full of honey, maple sirup, agave or some other sugary sweetener. And, while many people unfortunately think these sugar substitutes are healthy, they are not.

We just need almond milk, 2 cups. I prefer almond milk because it’s the most kidney friendly milk alternatives.
Let’s warm it up.
Now, in a cup let’s combine
1 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp coconut oil
1 pinch ground black pepper. Black pepper is very useful, it will make the curcumin in turmeric available to the body.
Let’s add the milk slowly and mix it.
Ta da! Done!
Let’s just add stevia to taste. A lot healthier this way!
