Ginger tea is a spicy and flavorful drink that packs a punch of healthy, disease-fighting antioxidants.
Actually, there are even studies on kidney disease patients showing that ginger has therapeutic effects in improving renal function.
This is because Ginger is loaded with bioactive compounds and nutrients that are helpful for our brain and body.
Ginger also contains gingerol, a substance with powerful medicinal properties.
It helps fight inflammation and this is more important than people realize:
kidney disease, like other chronic diseases will cause inflammation allover the body.
Ginger tea can help.
Evidence also suggests that ginger may help prevent stomach ulcers and relieve indigestion or constipation

How to Make Ginger Tea?
I tested several methods, and the easiest way is truly the best way. Here’s how to do it:
Thinly slice your fresh ginger. Use about a one-inch piece of ginger per cup of tea. In a saucepan, combine the ginger with fresh water (use one cup of water per serving). Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer. Simmer for five minutes (or up to 10 minutes, if you want extra-strong tea). I usually think it's pungent enough at five minutes. Pour the tea through a fine sieve to catch all of the ginger. If desired, serve your tea with a thin round of lemon or orange for some complementary acidity.
You might also appreciate a light drizzle of honey which will temper the fiery ginger flavor.
But you may prefer to drink it without honey or to use a little bit of stevia if you suffer from diabetes or prediabetes.

Ok, don’t worry if I’m touching it with my bare hands, when the leaves are dried there’s no more irritating compound in them and they are absolutely safe to touch or to consume.

In a recent study, people suffering from arthritis pain have been shown to get the same result in terms of reducing pain they would have got from NSAIDs when they used stinging nettle extract.
The participants of this study were actually able to reduce their dose of pain medications thanks to this herb.
Now, this is really important for us because an herb that can reduce inflammation is going to help a lot in fighting an inflammatory disease like CKD.
This herb is actually approved in Germany and France for the treatment of urinary problems.
Not many herbs are approved as a detox therapy, so this should already say a lot about the properties of stinging nettle.

A very big study, made on 40,530 Japanese adults and lasted over 11 years, found out that
those who drank the most green tea – 5 or more cups per day – were significantly less likely to die during the study period.
This makes green tea one of the most heart healthy beverages out there!
Now, don’t forget that heart health is crucial for your kidneys.
So, don’t overlook green tea because it “just” helps your heart!
Actually, green tea can also help you fighting diabetes and improving insulin sensitivity.
Diabetes is the main cause of CKD in the world, so I am absolutely going to say that green tea can help you protect your kidneys!
Now, the only thing you should keep in mind about green tea is to avoid consuming them with meals.
Teas/Coffee will prevent absorption of some minerals like iron, very important for people with kidney disease.
So, drink your tea a couple of hours away from your meals.
One last benefit of green tea: it’s a great alternative to coffee. And this may be more important than you think, because the caffeine in coffee can raise your blood pressure.
Green tea is great if you want to decrease the amount of caffeine you get without going cold turkey.
A cup of tea has about 100mg of caffeine or less, depending on the brew, while a cup of coffee has twice or more this amount of caffeine.
Now, talking about teas, my advice is to always avoid bottled teas and other soft drinks.
The reasons are several. Very first is sugar. If you check the label on one of these bottles, you’ll often find sugar as the first ingredient.
Yes, you’re basically drinking liquid sugar here and that’s the single worst thing you can do to your health.
Even worse than eating sugar rich foods, because there’s no fats or protein in here to slow down the absorption of all this sugar.
Diet or no sugar teas and sodas are unhealthy too, especially for your kidneys.
Third thing is hidden phosphorus. Phosphates are often used as preservatives in bottled teas and other soft drinks.
Very dangerous for people with kidney disease.
Really, if corporations cared about your health, which they don’t, these bottles should come with a big, red, label that says “dangerous for your kidneys”.
So, brewed teas are very healthy while bottled ones, generally, aren’t.
