Chronic inflammation in our bodies is often brought on by excess bad cholesterol and other lifestyle-related issues, like high blood pressure and high blood glucose – very common in people with kidney problems.
We want to quell these inflammatory “flames” because they often lead to the formation of fatty streaks throughout our arteries, which can eventually lead to plaque build-up, kidney damage and even heart attacks.
And yes, it is proven that finding ways to curb the inflammation in the body can help kidney health.

number 5: find ways to sleep better
It is scientifically proven that sleep deprivation can damage your kidneys.
There’s a large study directly linking poor sleep to a rapid decline in kidney function.
And this means that it’s also proven that finding ways to sleep better – at least 7 hours per night – can help. More than you may think.
What to do to sleep better then?
make sleep a priority
It’s so easy to say “I’ll just catch up on some work for a while or I’ll just watch a TV-show for an hour.”
But when you tell yourself that sleep is important, that it’s a priority, you should be able to choose it over other temptations.
This is the best way to have a consistent bedtime and waking time seven days a week.
And also, try melatonin.
Melatonin is my go-to home remedy, coupled with chamomile, when it comes to solving a lack of sleep problem.

And, according to a recent study, it may also have kidney protective and repairing effects!
As a dietary supplement, it is a natural, inexpensive, widely available remedy for insomnia.
Melatonin is sold over the counter, you may be able to find it even in supermarkets, and it’s often used for the short-term treatment of insomnia, such as from jet lag.
If nothing works, talk to your doctor about your medications. Few people know this, but the timing of medications such as beta blockers, for example, can impact your sleep.
