Eating more of these 5 healthy high-fat FOODS is proven to help you boost your kidney health!
Katherine from 00kidney here, welcome to our journey together to a better kidney health!
Today I’ll show you the top 5 high fat foods that are so healthy and rich in nutrients all kidney disease patients should take advantage of them to repair their kidneys!
Fatty acids are probably the most underrated part of the diet.
Some people are still convinced they should avoid high-fat foods as much as they can, to stay healthy.
Nothing more wrong!
Fat is an essential part of a healthy, balanced diet, especially important if you have kidney problems!
Fat helps the body absorb vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E. These vitamins are fat-soluble, which means they can only be absorbed with the help of fats.
But it’s also true that SOME high-fat foods are unhealthy for you, and should be avoided!
And while some fats may actually raise your cholesterol, all the foods in today’s top 5 are rich in Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats, proven to help you keep your cholesterol in the right range!
And, as a plus, they don’t have too much phosphorus or potassium.
Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Don’t miss our number 1 in particular as this is an incredibly good tasting, healthy recipe!
Can’t wait to show it to you!
Guys, high-fat really are a crucial part of how you eat – they can easily make or destroy a kidney diet.
Let’s start immediately with one of the healthiest snacks you can find!
This one is so rich in phytonutrients it’s actually going to help you fight inflammation and to lower cholesterol levels!
Number 5 is…
Dark chocolate!
Dark chocolate really is a superfood disguised as a tasty treat!
If you can’t believe this, consider that, according to recent studies, eating small amounts of dark chocolate can significantly lower bad cholesterol levels in just 2 weeks!
Another study also linked dark chocolate consumption to better insulin sensitivity, great for those with diabetes!
Various studies also revealed the cardioprotective, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory benefits of regular chocolate consumption.
Researchers believe this is due the high amounts of flavonoids found in cocoa, the main ingredient of dark chocolate.
Not to mention that dark chocolate is very high in fat, with fat accounting for around 65% of calories, and this is a good thing.
Dark chocolate is a great source of iron, magnesium and resveratrol, all very healthy.
Yes, it’s incredible that so many people still believe that dark chocolate is just a snack!
So share this video now with anyone you know who is following a renal diet, trust me when I say that they will thank you!
+
Now the big question: can you actually eat chocolate if you have kidney problems?
+
This superfood has a lot of health benefits, no doubt about it.
There’s one problem, though. It is SO rich in nutrients.
And this also includes phosphorus, unfortunately.
This is the main reason why some doctors will recommend you to avoid it.
Still, the benefits of this superfood are so many, it may be worth including it in your phosphorus allowance.
But always eat it in small amounts, and always eat the dark chocolate with the highest percentage of cocoa you can find.
+
Now guys, as promised there’s a very healthy and tasty hot chocolate recipe that’s 100% suitable for a renal diet!
All the ingredients are carefully hand picked to suit the needs of people in any stage of kidney disease!
Really can’t wait to show it to you!
But before that, time now for the best plant-based source of omega 3 fatty acids in existence!
Seriously, if you don’t eat this food regularly, you are making a big mistake!
Number 4 is…
Chia Seeds!
The Chia seed is a tiny little powerhouse that can add a lot of benefits to your diet!
The word “Chia” is actually the Mayan word for strength.
In ancient cultures, these little seeds were considered the food of the warrior, because of their many health benefits!
Today’s science actually confirmed many of the benefits of these small seeds: eating them regularly may actually help improving your heart health, lower your blood sugar levels and protect your kidneys.
+
Chia seeds are also very easy to add to your diet.
They can be sprinkled dry on top of other foods, or they can be soaked to create a tasteless gel to stir into soups or sauces.
This gel can also be used to replace eggs in baked goods and other preparations.
So, if you have a recipe and you’re wanting to go egg-free, do one tablespoon of chia to three tablespoons of water, mix that and it can replace an egg in any recipe.
Amazingly healthy!
+
Now, what makes chia seeds one of the healthiest foods you can eat, is their Omega 3 fatty acids content.
This benefit alone is worth including them in your renal diet.
Omega 3s are so healthy for your kidneys many patients actually have to resort to supplementing them.
Consuming enough of this essential nutrient, which is vital for many organs in your body – just like a vitamin actually – can protect against all sorts of illnesses, including cancer, depression, and various inflammatory diseases.
Supplementing Omega 3 fatty acids may even help with cholesterol levels, blood pressure and slow down the progression of kidney disease.
Isn’t that amazing? All those benefits in a tiny seed.
+
Before I show you our number 3 – this is one of the few foods in the world that is so healthy, it may actually help you lose weight if you eat more of it – there’s a very important question about fats we need to answer.
+
Question, won’t eating high-fat foods make you gain weight?
So, let’s bust a nutritional myth once and for all.
Eating high-fat foods doesn’t make you fatter!
+
Fats are actually essential, just like vitamin, and crucial for your health.
Many high fat foods have been linked to a wide range of health benefits, including protection against heart disease, diabetes, cholesterol and other risk factor for kidney disease.
Now, this is only true for food rich in unsaturated fats such as those I’m showing you today.
Foods too rich in saturated fats and, even worse, in trans-fats, are not healthy for you.
Also consider that high-fat foods have more calories per pound than other foods, so don’t go wild and always mind portion control!
But this is true for any part of the kidney diet, as you may already know.
+
And, as I was saying, some of the food items in today’s video are proven to help you lose weight!
Our next entry in particular!
Number 3 is…
3) almonds!
Almonds are among the world’s healthiest superfoods.
They are highly nutritious and rich in healthy fats, vitamins and minerals.
+
And almonds are so rich in antioxidants, recent research even linked almond consumption to a significant reduction in oxidative stress markers!
This is amazing when you think that oxidative stress is one of the causes of kidney damage.
Almonds are also great for the health of your gut, they’re full of fiber that can function as prebiotic or food for your healthy gut bacteria.
Other studies linked almond consumption to lower bad cholesterol levels.
+
If this isn’t enough, almonds can also be used to aid weight loss.
Yes, almonds are one of the healthiest nuts that you can find, a favorite of dieters and health conscious people all around the world.
+
But, just like the other superfoods of today’s video, they are really rich in calories and nutrients.
This is why, the best way to get the health benefits without compromising the mineral balance of your body is to always mind portion control!
In this case, less is definitely more!
Time now for a superfood so powerful at fighting the inflammation, it is actually considered the main reason why the Mediterranean diet is so good for you!
Number 2 is…
Olive oil
Olive oil is probably the healthiest thing in the world you can add to your salad – maybe even healthier than the veggies themselves.
I’m not exaggerating, according to studies, olive oil is what makes the Mediterranean diet so healthy for you.
And it’s not a secret that Italy and other Mediterranean countries have the highest life expectancy in the world.
-
Olive oil is the best friend of your heart, cardiovascular system and kidneys thanks to its healthy fats, mainly monounsaturated Fats.
The predominant fatty acid in olive oil is a monounsaturated fat called oleic acid and it has some pretty amazing peculiarities.
It is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatories in nature.
Remember that inflammation is a leading driver of diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, arthritis and even obesity.
And olive oil can fight it effectively.
+
Test tubes shown that oleocanthal, a phenolic compound in olive oil, works similarly to ibuprofen, a common anti-inflammatory drug, in lowering inflammation in the body.
Research also suggests that oleic acid, the main fatty acid in olive oil, can reduce levels of important inflammatory markers like C-reactive protein (CRP).
No wonder that this amazing superfood can actually make you live longer!
And the monounsaturated fats are also quite resistant to high heat, making olive oil a healthy choice for cooking.
+
