Ok, in this bag I have all you need for the first day of detox!
Let’s take a look!
Oh, what do we have here!
The ingredients for a fruit and veggies based detox: these ingredients are going to assist your kidneys in detoxifying harmful substances from your body.
And look at this, there’s cocoa here!
Yes, today we are going to make a chocolate detox smoothie!
This is going to be really tasty and I’m sure it will quickly become one of your favorites, so let’s get right into what goes in it!
As we have seen, first ingredient is cocoa powder.
And, if you don’t believe cocoa has detoxing properties, consider this: unsweetened cocoa powder is a minimally processed superfood, without any added sugar.
And, according to studies, unsweetened cocoa powder may even help lowering creatinine levels in kidney patients! Wait, what? Chocolate can help kidney disease patients? How?
Dark chocolate has been thoroughly studied recently and it’s proven to lower blood pressure.
It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and can improve cholesterol levels.
And to get these benefits, we need just 2 tablespoons, or around 15 grams of unsweetened cocoa powder.
This contains just 14mg of potassium and no sugar at all.
I’m putting the ingredients into the blender as I show you them.
Ok, there’s also Celery here.
This is one of the most powerful detoxing foods in the world.
Celery is an excellent blood cleanser and contains many different anti-cancer compounds that help detoxify cancer cells from the body.
and … you know, celery is probably the best friend of your urinary tract and kidneys.
Celery has long been used as a traditional remedy thanks to its diuretic, antimicrobial and cleansing properties.
Now, wait a moment before putting the stalks in the blender, I also want to show you a nice trick to make these greens even healthier.
The problem with many fruit and veggies is the chemical and pesticides residue they may have.
Not great for a cleanse, right?
Well, there’s a proven method to get rid of pesticides and chemicals. You need to prepare a water and baking soda bath for your fruits and veggies.
Use 14 grams baking soda per litre of water. Soak fresh produce in this solution for 5 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

This way of cleaning fruit and veggies is proven by science to work.
Let’s put three small celery stalks in the blender.

And, also a Williams pear.
Pears are really underestimated fruit, but they are incredibly useful when it comes to detoxify the kidneys.
First of all, eating pears regularly is associated with lower cholesterol levels. But also, a single medium sized pear, like this one, packs a whopping 6 grams of dietary fiber.
And it’s not just your regular fiber. This is mostly soluble fiber, which will make a gel like substance to help your gut flora do its job. And this is what a cleanse is all about, actually: help our organs do their job of removing toxins.
Also, one whole pear is just going to add 190mg of potassium to your diet.
Notice that I’m not peeling it, I’m just removing the core and putting it roughly chopped in the blender.

I’ve already washed it with the celery.
And there’s also mint here. Now, mint is so effective in improving the health of the gastrointestinal tract, it may even be prescribed as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome.
Remember that having healthy gut is the best way to detox your kidneys.
This ingredient is also thought to have a powerful nephroprotective effect, meaning that it protects the kidneys from oxidative damage, according to studies.
Let’s add some leaves to the blender. This is around 15 grams.

And there’s also hazelnuts.
Nuts are a must in a smoothie, because they will add a creamy element to the recipe.
We’re going to use 1 ounce of hazelnuts, around 30 grams.
Hazelnuts are low in potassium and phosphorus compared to other nuts and are great in terms of detoxing benefits.

But we also have some sesame seeds here. This is around 2 tablespoons or 20 grams of seeds.
Now, these seeds are not just great for detoxing, they’re extremely rich in all those nutrients people with kidney disease are usually lacking.
For example, this small amount of seeds packs the 22% of your RDI for calcium – extremely useful for your bones and teeth, but also 25% of your dietary intake of magnesium.
I don’t know if you have watched my video about nutritional deficiencies and how to avoid them, but you really want these minerals in your diet if you have kidney problems.
Magnesium in particular is amazing for you, because it lowers blood pressure. And these seeds are full of it.
And also they contain just 80 mg of potassium for this quantity.
And guys, if you are having troubles finding one or more of these ingredients, feel free to ask in comment section for substitutions, maybe I can help you find alternative foods.
Now, sesame seeds need to be roasted, and not just for the taste. They contain anti nutrients that you can remove with heat.
And also cinnamon. We need 1/4 of teaspoon, both for the taste and for the powerful health benefits this spice can provide.

Now, before we prepare and test this smoothie, I want to show you how this works.
This is a 3 days detox, and on each day we are going to focus on a specific way of detoxing the body.
In the first day of this cleanse, I want you to focus on your mind. This is what this chocolate detox smoothie was for.
Chocolate makes you feel good. It contains compounds that release feel-good chemicals in your brain, and this is way more important than people realize.
Because in our journey to a better kidney health, keeping our mind clean is key.
You will have to face doubt, fear, and in some cases even desperation. Never give in. Never surrender.
In the last years, I’ve met several people who were able to achieve what many consider impossible: getting an improvement in kidney function.
and all of them had one thing in common: they were able to see over the issue. To look at the solution, rather than at the problem, with a positive mindset.
So this is what we are going to focus on during the first day.

Now, let’s taste this one real quick.
I’ve already put all the ingredients in the blender, let’s just add some ice and some water. Not much, I like my smoothies creamy.
Now, I’ve already put all the ingredients in here. I totally rely on my blender to mix everything quickly.
This is a powerful blender. But if you only have a regular old blender, don’t worry, you don’t need to waste money on a new one.
Just add the small ingredients first with water and the pear and celery for last, after making them into small pieces.
And blend for 3 or 4 minutes, you really want this to mix well!

These are the ingredients for the second day, during the second day!
I want you to focus on pure cleansing.
This is why the ingredients in this smoothie are chosen to gently help your body naturally – flushing out the toxins from the kidneys while supporting your health and vitality.
Yes, this is the smoothie with the most powerful cleansing properties, let’s see how to make it!
First, we have a green apple. These are lower in sugar than the red variety and contain more pectin – a type of fiber that works as a prebiotic to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut.
A great way of helping the gastrointestinal tract cleanse the body. And apples also help in a kidney cleanse because they reduce the feeling for hunger.
I’ve already washed this apple in a baking soda and water solution. Let’s just core it and put the pieces in the blender.

Next ingredient is savoy cabbage. A lot of detox smoothies are made with kale, but this veggie is a better option for people with kidney disease for two reasons.
First, it’s in season. Second, it has WAY less potassium than kale. Just 160mg per cup.
I talked about this cabbage in my recent video about the foods that make lose weight.
This one actually came second in my top 7, mainly due to its detoxifying properties. This cabbage is especially rich in sulphur compounds, that enhance the kidneys ability to expel toxins.
We need 1 cup of it, around 70 grams, so let’s put the leaves in the blender.
Now, I know savoy cabbage may be hard to find sometimes, so use kale if you can’t find it.
And let’s add some cilantro too. This ingredient offers an incredibly powerful way of cleansing the body.
Cilantro binds to heavy metals and helps remove them from your body.
We are just going to use a small handful of cilantro, we don’t need much to get the benefits.
We have hot peppers here – a spice with incredible health benefits. Go easy with hot peppers if you’re not used to them, you don’t need a lot.
The capsaicin you can find even in a small quantity of hot pepper, will speed up your metabolism, making everything work faster.
But this plant compound may even improve heart health, lower blood pressure and assist to heal muscle and joint pain, and even speed healing of damaged tissue.
Let’s add just the tip of 1 of these very strong hot peppers.

Next ingredient, this one is going to help with the taste too. Chia seeds. I always put some of these in my smoothies because they’re full of omega 3s.
And also because they create a gelatinous effect when added to water or digested.
They cleanse your insides by collecting toxins on their way out!
Let’s add 1 tablespoon or around 8 grams of them.

And for last some almonds.
Not only are almonds high in fiber, magnesium, calcium and healthy fats. According to studies, almonds may even help clearing the deposits of visceral fat around the liver, associated with diabetes.
Really one of the healthiest foods on Earth.
We are going to use 30 grams of almonds, this is 1/4 of a cup.

Now, if you really don’t care about taste and only want to detox fast, you can also add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
Real, organic acv with the Mother of Vinegar, like this you can see here is a real healer.
ACV has a powerful effect in keeping blood sugar levels in the normal range and to improve insulin levels – absolutely great for people with diabetes.
And it can greatly help with a detox since it helps the body removing toxins.
This is optional, because it doesn’t taste good. I usually prefer to just drink acv with water.
So guys, today is the cleansing day. So let’s pair this detox smoothie with a powerful cleansing tea!

Ok, the smoothie is almost ready, let’s add a couple of ice cubes, some water, gradually, and just blend until smooth.

Let’s taste test it! Mmm it’s a bit on the bitter side… but it’s hot and spicy! And it’s also refreshing, I think you’re going to like this one!

Ok, I’ve kept the best for last. This one is going to be an energizing smoothie that will support a healthy detox of the whole body.
Third day is for energy, I told you this 3 day detox was going to give you fast results and this is where you are going to see the results!
Let’s take a look!

Oh, this one looks amazing!
The ingredients of our 3rd day smoothie are not just going to help you detox the body, they will also make you feel a lot better!

So, let’s see how to make it.
First, we need 1 small Beetroot. Beetroots are a unique source of betalains – a type of phytonutrient with powerful detoxing properties.
Beetroot also have powerful blood pressure lowering properties.
Let’s roughly chop this one and put it in the blender.

And also Cranberries. These are very powerful berries – they will help cleansing the urinary tract.
We are going to use 15 grams of cranberries, this is 2 tablespoons. Let’s put them in the blender.

And also, almonds.
We are going to use 30 grams of almonds, or 1/4 of a cup.
Ok, here it comes the secret ingredient:
Red radish!
These spicy radishes are a great source of anthocyanins, to keep our hearts functioning properly.
But they also have powerful detoxing benefits. They’re known to control damage to our red blood cells, and also to increase oxygen supply to the blood in the process.
We’re just going to need a couple of them. I’ve already washed these radishes, let’s put them in the blender.
Don’t worry about the greens, they’re very healthy too.

And what is this… not these are not your regular rolled oats. These are barley flakes.
Barley is a whole-grain kidney patients can eat almost every day: barley is lower in phosphorus and potassium compared to basically any other whole grain.
But it’s also very rich in in soluble fiber, to detox the body and help digestion and gut health.
Let’s add half cup, or around 40 grams.
And two tablespoons of Chia seeds.
In this smoothie we are going to use almond milk – a non dairy alternative to milk – to make it super creamy and tasty.

So, what’s the best way to do this 3-day kidney cleanse?
First of all, Based on your daily caloric intake, a single one of these smoothies can be one meal or even two. It depends on how many calories you usually get on a daily basis.

Don’t worry, I’ve added the complete ingredient list and nutritional values in description.

This detox consists in 3 days that you will dedicate to your health and well-being.
Ideally, you should replace junk foods, empty calories and processed foods with these smoothies.
So, for example, if you’re used to eat processed grains or other packaged foods for dinner, have a cup of this instead.
Or you can replace your breakfast with a detoxing smoothie.

So, during the first day we will be focusing on the mind, with the chocolate smoothie.
During the second day we will be focusing on cleansing, with the green smoothie and the tea.
Third day, I want you to focus on your body and your energy: this is the perfect day to try a home workout!
Remember that exercising regularly is the best way to improve the health of your kidneys, because it can lower blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, and will also make you stronger and happier.
