In this video: how to use the healthiest veggie in the world to repair your kidneys!

Katherine here, welcome to 00kidney!
The healing properties this small veggie has are … impressive.
It fights the inflammation in the body, supports gut and brain health, it makes you more energized and it is proven by science to help lower your blood pressure!
If you want your kidneys to improve, you want to make this one a regular on your table!
+
This is why today I want to show you an amazing recipe that can greatly help you improve your kidney health by relaxing your blood vessels and improving your blood circulation.
You’re going to like this one!
And did you know that these healthiest veggies – beets – are also in the Guinness World Records?
The world’s heaviest beetroot weighed just shy of 24 kg (52.88 pounds.) and was grown in the United Kingdom.
But they call them beetroots there. Here it is… pretty big, innit?
+
But guys, today I’m not just going to tell you how wonderful this veggie is, I’ll show you exactly how to use it to improve your kidney health!
+
So, question, what happens to your body when you eat beets?
++
Beets are very rich in folate (vitamin B9) which protect blood vessels and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney damage.
Beets are also naturally high in nitrates, a very powerful vasodilator.
This is the main reason why beets are so good at lowering blood pressure.
Actually, in a study on kidney disease patients, those who drank a preparation similar to the healing recipe of today’s video had a very significant improvement in blood pressure.
Their blood pressure went down by 10 over 5 millimeters of mercury!
++
So, question, who is going to benefit the most from including this superfood in their diet?
Obviously, those wanting to control their blood pressure naturally.
And guys, remember that lowering your blood pressure with a better diet means that you will eventually need less medications!
And this is exactly how you repair your kidneys!
But this superfood is also a powerful anti-inflammatory.
Beets contain pigments called betalains, which could benefit several aspects of health, as chronic inflammation has been associated with conditions like obesity, heart disease, liver disease, and cancer.
Now, knowing how sweet this veggie tastes, there’s another question that needs an answer.
++
Are beets to rich in sugar?
Can people with diabetes eat them?
Beets have more sugar than many other vegetable – about 4 grams in one small beet.
But that’s hardly the same as getting 4 grams of sugars from a cookie.
You see, the natural sugar in fruit and vegetables acts completely differently inside the body than the added sugar they put in junk foods.
This happens because the fiber in this vegetable is going to slow down the absorption of this sugar.
And consuming beets appears to be especially beneficial for people with diabetes.
Beets lower the risk of common diabetes complications, including nerve damage and eye damage.
Still, if you have diabetes, is always better to pair any starchy vegetable with a source of dietary fats – like we are going to do with today’s kidney healing recipe!
++
Time now for my recipe!
This is a very easy one, first we need 1 small Beet.
Now guys, as you can see, I use precooked, packaged beets.
This is because I cannot find fresh beets where I live.
And, also, because they are still healthy this way.
Let’s roughly chop this one and put it in the blender.
Now, if you do have access to fresh beets, use those! You don’t even need to cook them, just chop them and add to the blender!
And don’t discard the greens, those are very healthy too.
+
Second ingredient for our smoothie, Cranberries.
These are very powerful berries – they will help cleansing the urinary tract from harmful bacteria.
Great to protect your kidneys! Just like for beets, if you cannot find fresh cranberries, use dried ones.
They’re still healthy, just double check that they’re not packaged with sugar.
We are going to use 15 grams of cranberries, this is 2 tablespoons. Let’s put them in the blender.
+
Third ingredient is a source of fats, like in any smoothie worth its name.
Almonds. We are going to use 30 grams of almonds, or 1/4 of a cup.
Almonds are extremely healthy and will make the blood pressure lowering of this recipe even more potent.
They are one of the best sources of magnesium, an essential mineral that’s key to control blood pressure.
+
Ok, here it comes the secret ingredient:
Red radish!
These spicy radishes, in season right now, are a great source of anthocyanins, to keep our hearts functioning properly.
But they also have powerful detoxing benefits.
They’re known to control damage to our red blood cells, and also to increase oxygen supply to the blood in the process.
We’re just going to need a couple of them. I’ve already washed these radishes, let’s put them in the blender.
+
And what is this… not these are not your regular rolled oats. These are barley flakes.
Barley is a whole-grain kidney patients can eat almost every day: barley is lower in phosphorus and potassium compared to basically any other whole grain.
But it’s also very rich in in soluble fiber, to detox the body and help digestion and gut health.
Let’s add half cup, or around 40 grams.
In this smoothie we are going to use almond milk – a non-dairy alternative to milk – to make it super tasty.
Don’t forget to add some ice cubes!
Here we go, the smoothie is ready! Isn’t it beautiful? And it’s so sweet even without any added sweetener!
Let me know if you will try this recipe!
And if you want to see more healing recipe, in my video up here you will find a very healthy smoothie that tastes like… Nutella!
This is all for today, thank you for watching!
